– Amazing day at Calvary! – We did a combined service at 11AM today. – I think this is the last time we’re be able to do this because we were packed to the gills in the middle of the summer – I taught a message on “knowing the will of God” from Romans 12:1-2 – The band sounded fantastic today. – Lots of people responded to the invitation to come to Christ today. – I’m not an evangelist, so I’m amazed every week when people respond to the Gospel invitation. – After the service we baptized 40+ people. It … Read More
Webinar Happening Today!
Last week we did a webinar called, “Double the Decisions in your church” that was really well received. However, I got several emails from Pastors who wanted to attend but were unable to. Sunday Stuff
– I didn’t teach at Calvary this morning. Instead, I taught at a friend’s church in Davie. – I hadn’t been there in a couple of years, so it was great to see God working in another church environment. – I taught a message from our Ephesians series. I’ve taught this message a few times when I’ve spoken at other churches. – I’m still resonating with that message out of Ephesians 4. – Looking forward to being back at Calvary next week for a big Sunday as we have a combined service at 11AM, a baptism and a picnic after … Read More

Cost of Facebook ads is Rising…
I read this article today that said the cost of Facebook ads has risen 40% in the last quarter. (article link) This means several things: 1. Facebook isn’t going to be the “cheap” way to reach people anymore. 2. There’s a lot more competition for your ad to get noticed. 3. If you aren’t trained on how to do Facebook ads effectively, you’re going to spend a fortune on Facebook ads and reach very few people. That’s why in September at Outreach Ninja, we’re focusing on teaching you how to create killer ads for less that reach more people. At … Read More
Book Review: The Irresistible Church
I am a big fan of Wayne Cordeiro and New Hope Church in Hawaii, so I try to read everything Wayne writes. In fact, his book “Doing Church as a Team” is required reading for anyone who joins our staff. So when I saw he wrote a new book I immediately downloaded it into my Kindle for iPad app and moved it ahead of several other books. I really enjoyed this book. The book is not about how a church can be irresistible to your community. Instead, the book is about how a church can be irresistible to heaven. It’s … Read More

When to Take Strategic Breaks
In continuing our discussion from yesterday about taking breaks, if you’re going to take breaks as a Senior Pastor, you should consider several things as you plan your year. We’ll discuss 3 of them here. #1 – Don’t miss important Sundays – I know this is obvious, but every year I hear about Pastors who give us their pulpits on Easter or Mother’s Day. This is a big mistake and you do it at your own peril. This are 2 of the biggest days of the year and your church and community needs you to be in the pulpit teaching … Read More
Taking Strategic Breaks
First, let me say that I love preaching. I love listening to preaching. reading about preaching. I even like looking through catalogs that have different styles of pulpits 🙂 Having said that, I’ve had 3 weeks off from preaching and I’m ready to get back in the pulpit this Sunday. But I am a firm believer that you need to take strategic breaks from preaching. This is important for many reasons, here’s 4: #1 – The church needs to hear from people other than me #2 – I need to be able to focus on things I normally don’t get … Read More
Sunday Stuff…
– Great day at Calvary. – I didn’t teach (yes, that’s 3 weeks in a row for those keeping score at home). – Pastor John taught a fantastic message out of Romans 9. – It’s a tough passage to teach and John did a great job. I’m very proud of him and the teach he’s become. – I attended our 11:30 service with my family. It was nice to show up all together and just enjoy a service. – Our great friends John and Tania gave a brief testimony at our services today about their work in the Middle East. … Read More
