First, let me say that I love preaching. I love listening to preaching. reading about preaching. I even like looking through catalogs that have different styles of pulpits 🙂

Having said that, I’ve had 3 weeks off from preaching and I’m ready to get back in the pulpit this Sunday. But I am a firm believer that you need to take strategic breaks from preaching.

This is important for many reasons, here’s 4:

#1 – The church needs to hear from people other than me

#2 – I need to be able to focus on things I normally don’t get to work on

#3 – I need to give other gifted teachers an opportunity to teach

#4 – I need to take a break and recharge my batteries.

We need to be wise about when we take breaks. I’ll talk about that tomorrow…
