I didn’t watch the finale. It’s weird: American Idol is recorded live in LA, but people in LA don’t get to watch it until 3 hours later. Anyone else find that weird? Anyway, I was shocked to learn that Taylor Hicks won! I thought he outperformed Katherine, but I thought she was going to win anyway. And to think that Simon wasn’t going to send Taylor to Hollywood. Hello! Although Simon did have the best line of the season after a Taylor Hicks performance: “Taylor, are you drunk?” I’m sorry, but that was hilarious. I like Pacific time, I think. … Read More
Movie Review: The Da Vinci Code
First, let me say that I loved the book! I read it about 2 1/2 years ago when the book was just picking up steam. I obviously didn’t agree with the “Facts” of the book, but the story was engaging and I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. Dan Brown is a gifted writer who has a knack for writing books about conspiracy theories. So I saw the movie on Saturday night. While I thought the movie was OK, I felt as though Ron Howard removed all the teeth that the book had and it left you with … Read More
Book Review: Confessions of a Reformission Rev.
Tally and I traded for Confessions of a Reformission Rev. by Mark Driscoll because I couldn’t find a copy of it in all of Miami. I searched high and low for it and no stores had it (The 2 Christian bookstores in Miami didn’t carry it and none of the big chains did either). Anyway, this book I purposely read slow because I wanted to milk it for all it’s worth. The book was amazing. I loved the raw tone in which Driscoll speaks. I appreciated the sarcasm probably a little too much! But I loved the book because it … Read More
Los Angeles Day 2
Sunday was a day of getting acclimated to West coast time and weather (It was overcast and a bit cold). But I don’t remember the last time I wore a sweater in late May. I bought a pair of shoes that I’ve been looking for (For at least 6 months). It was glorious! I love buying clothes and I’m not ashamed to admit it (OK, maybe a little). Carey and I went to Mosaic last night. I spent some time talking with Alex McManus who is one of the coolest guys on the planet. You should check out his blog, … Read More
Los Angeles Day 1
Carey and I arrived in LA around 2PM local time on Saturday. The weather was amazing! We checked into our hotel and proceeded to hit the nearest In N Out Burger. It’s as good as I remember it! I feel the need to open a franchise in Miami. I may even start one out of my house if possible. I tried something new this time: The french fries – animal style! Out of hand! The Double-Double animal style was over the top, but this took things to a whole new level. From there, Carey and I headed to Saddleback for … Read More
Unsolved Mysteries
I was at an offsite meeting for much of the day today, but when I got to the office the place was buzzing with intrigue. Why, you ask? Because one of our Pastors, John, received 2 dozen roses from a secret admirer. None of us know who it is, and the card simply said, “Just to let you that you are admired.” (Did I mention that John is single?) It’s funny how things like this affect people. A few people in the office were going crazy trying to figure out who sent this. Others (like me) thought it was funny … Read More
Speaking of Birthdays
Speaking of birthdays, today is my niece, Sarah’s 7th birthday. I love you sweetheart! My life is better because you’re part of it!
1 Year of Blogging!
I realized that I started blogging one year ago yesterday! What a ride it has been! The good comments, the weird comments, the really bizarre comments! I’m amazed that fairly well adjusted adults would care about what I had to say! The best part for me has been to get to know some other bloggers/ Pastors that I can call friends. It’s been great to get to know you guys!
My Suspicions have been Confirmed!
A just read a report that stated Miami Drivers are the rudest drivers in America! I could have told you that without reading the report. Not only do I have to contend with the fact that this is 2nd most unchurched city in America (6% Christian). We are officially the worst drivers. If you’re interested, here’s the rest of the top 5: #1 – Miami #2 – Phoenix #3 – New York #4 – Los Angeles #5 – Boston I was born in Boston and I live in Miami. I don’t stand a chance! By the way, here are the … Read More
Outrage!
Chris Daughtry gone! Are you kidding me? I’m sorry, but Chris had the goods. I think this dude can sell records. Once again, I refer to several comments that I have made: America doesn’t know anything about music! We live in a country where people think P. Diddy is a musical artist. America, it’s time to “Just say no” to the crack you’re smoking! I loved this guy’s passion, the fact that he was a family man who wanted to do right by his wife and kids. This is the American dream. My only comfort is that he’s still going … Read More
