Outreach’s Worst Case Scenario

Bob FranquizChurch

“What’s the worst thing that can happen to your outreach?” The worst that can happen is not people complaining. It’s people ignoring you. That’s why above all you have the speak the language of the people you’re trying to reach. Most Pastors of contemporary churches say they do this, but we make this mistake as well.  How often have you sent something out talking about your “worship”? Guess what? If you’re trying to reach unchurched people, they don’t know that worship is music. We do this with our children’s ministry: we essentially advertise to the kids (who can’t read by … Read More

Direct Mail isn’t Dead

Bob FranquizChurch

I recently read some stats that might encourage you to delve into the world of sending out direct mail for your next big Sunday at church. 85% of people sort, process and open their mail everyday. 75% of people say they are examining their mail more closely for coupons and other special offers and events. 55% of people say they receive greater enjoyment opening their snail mail than their email (and this includes the 18-39 age group, by the way). 40% of people say they tried a new business because they received direct mail from them. 70% of people renewed … Read More

The Overlooked Part of Promotional Outreach

Bob FranquizChurch

There’s a lot written about design in church marketing, but little is written about the copy. The truth is, it doesn’t matter how pretty your postcard, billboard, or invite is. If you don’t have relevant and compelling copy, your promotion isn’t going to do much. A slick design without good copy that speaks to the reader is the equivalent of “all sizzle, no steak”. So what are the elements that make for good copy? Here’s one: #1 – It has to be relevant to the person you’re trying to reach – don’t misunderstand: I’m not talking about mentioning that your … Read More

Above All, Be Clear.

Bob FranquizGeneral

Too many times, churches promote their services or an event and they fail to see results for one reason: they were unclear as to what they wanted the recipient to do. People reject things that are unclear or irrelevant. So above all, we must be clear. Here’s what I recommend: Ask yourself, “What do I want this person to do: visit our website? Attend our church? Call our office?” Whatever it is, start there and work your way backwards. Build your case in your copy so they feel they’re missing out if they don’t take advantage of the opportunity you’re providing. It’s … Read More

Sunday Stuff

Bob FranquizChurch

– Amazing day at Calvary! – We continued our “Inside Out” series through Romans as I taught Romans 7. – The thrust of the message was letting go of religion and embracing the Gospel. – I got more comments about the message than any message in recent memory. – Mark didn’t lead worship since his baby was born this week. – George did an amazing job leading worship. So proud of him! – We hosted a food truck rally after our services that brought hundreds of unchurched people to our location who had never heard of us. – We gave … Read More

It’s the “Bacon” of Outreach!

Bob FranquizChurch

Just a quick note today to let you know about the start of something that’s going to change the game entirely when it comes to Outreach and promotion in your church. It’s called Outreach Ninja and we’re launching it this week (the program starts in August, but you’ll learn about that in a moment). It’s a monthly program that’s part coaching, part consulting, part “done-for-you” resources, but all build to increase your response! Why is this the “Bacon” of outreach? Because just like how bacon makes everything better, Outreach Ninja will do the same for your church’s outreach. You can learn all about … Read More
