Favorite Book: January 2010

Bob FranquizBooks

I review a book every week in the www.church-strategies.com newsletter, but I thought I'd highlight one book on the blog that was the best book I read in that month.  So here's my January pick: Talk Less, Say More by Connie Dieken.   I thought Talk Less, Say More was a really good book. It covered so many areas of life in which we communicate. Many books only cover communication from the platform (which is important), but let's be honest, we communicate through email, staff meetings, and individual meetings more than we do on the stage.  The other thing I really liked about … Read More

For the month of December I've been giving away copies of my book Zero to Sixty: 60 principles and practices for leading a growing church as a Christmas present to church leaders.   However, the last day to get your free copy is tomorrow (Dec. 24th).  So if you want a free copy, simply click here.  (Remember, all you pay is the shipping and the book is free) Merry Christmas!

Why give away your book?

Bob FranquizBooks

That's the question someone asked me last week when I decided to give away my book Zero to Sixty. I said, "I started doing it as a nice thing to do around Christmas. I've kept doing it because I found that it felt great to give them away."  One of my life goals is to give away as much as I can. In fact, one of my life goals is to live on 49% of my income. That way, I'm giving more than I'm keeping. I am firm believer that tithing is the bare minimum for giving. It's the training … Read More

It’s Free (Sort of)!

Bob FranquizBooks

In case you missed it, I'm giving away copies of my latest book, Zero to Sixty: 60 principles and practices for leading a growing church. I say the book is "sort of" free because all you have to pay is the $4.99 for shipping. That's it.  I'm doing this because I want to be a blessing to church leaders and this is a tangible way for me to do that.   By the way, you can order as many copies as you want. Several churches have ordered multiple copies for their staff and/or leaders. There's no quantity limit. If you think … Read More

Great Zero to Sixty Review

Bob FranquizBooks

Pastor Henry Williams recently reviewed Zero to Sixty on his blog.  Here's what he had to say about the book:  I really like this kind of book by Bob Franquiz, Zero to Sixty: 60 Principles and Practices for Leading a Growing Church–fast-paced and reads like a series of "best-of" blog posts. Lots of great ideas and leadership wisdom. I've been following Bob's blog for some time, so it was exciting when my then 79-year-old uncle told me he had found a great church close enough to his house to ride there on his three-wheel bike…and it was Bob's church. This church … Read More

Zero to Sixty Review

Bob FranquizBooks

Here's a great review of Zero to Sixty by Louie Marsh… "Zero to Sixty is a very practical and powerful book by pastor Bob Franquiz.  As the title implies it contains 60 short chapters which are organized into four areas of concern: Leadership Strategies, Staffing  Strategies, Ministry Strategies and Personal Development Strategies. Each chapter is short and punchy, and gets to the point quickly! In this day and age that’s a good thing. Bob successfully avoids one of the worst sins in modern Christian publishing, telling long, boring, repetitive stories that simply repeat the points that the author has already made several times!  … Read More

Book Review: A Million Miles in a Thousand Years

Bob FranquizBooks

I looked forward to this book with anticipation because I really enjoy reading Donald Miller's books.   Needless to say, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years didn't disappoint. But what impressed me most about the book was the emphasis on finding a story worth living. I caused him to view his life by asking the question, "Is this a story worth living?"  The book really challenged me and was very moving in certain parts.  Only 3 books have ever made me cry.  Interestingly, Don has written 2 of them.   I highly recommend this book! You can pick up … Read More

What I’m Reading

Bob FranquizBooks

A question I get regularly is, "What have you read lately?"   While I'm more than happy to answer the question (talking about books is one of my favorite things to do), I wanted to let you know that I have an entire column on my blog dedicated to the book that I've read recently.   This seems absurd if you're reading this at bobfranquiz.typepad.com, but since hundreds of people read these posts via RSS feed, they have no idea what's on my actual blog.  Anyway, if you click here, you can see everything I've read lately. I don't recommend … Read More
