I don’t want to talk about it!

They lost the game with 1 minute to go! I just can’t believe it. I was driving home from church Sunday night , checked my Treo and the score was 21-6. By the time I got home, the score was tied. UUUUGGGGGHHHH! Then to lose it with 1 minute left was just inexcusable. By the way, how many passes does Reche Caldwell have to drop before we stop throwing the ball to him? By the way #87, you just got a new nickname: Bill Buckner! How glorious would it have been for Tom Brady and the Pats to win their … Read More

Giving Some Respect…

Bill Mueller retired today. For those unaware, “Billy Ballgame” was an absolute workhorse who played hurt and played hard. He was the AL batting champion in 2003 and got one of the most important hits in Red Sox history in game 4 of the ALCS. He singled off of Mariano Rivera in the bottom of the 9th and tied the score, where ultimately David Ortiz would hit a walk-off home run and send the series to game 5 (In case you’re being held prisoner with Jack on Lost, the Sox would eventually win the series in 7 games). Anyway, Bill … Read More

October 27th in the Baseball Universe

Congratulations to the St. Louis Cardinals who shocked the world by beating the Detroit Tigers in 5 games. Almost everyone I knew (including me) thought the Tigers would make quick work of the Cards. But as is the saying, “Pitching wins in October.” If you don’t pitch, you go home. But as far as I’m concerned, October 27th will only be remembered for 1 reason: The 2004 Red Sox. I have the words of announcer Joe Buck burned into my heart: “Back to Foulke. Red Sox fans have longed to hear it: The Boston Red sox are World Champions!” Here’s … Read More

Maybe this is why the Yankees can’t win

Bob FranquizUncategorized

This from espn.com: With the hiring of Piniella, it is understood that the Cubs will expand their payroll, which was close to $100 million in 2006. Depending on how much they want to spend, the Cubs are one of the few teams capable of taking on (Alex) Rodriguez’s salary. He is owed $95 million for the remaining four years of the landmark 10-year, $252 million deal, he signed with Texas. The Yankees are responsible for paying $66.6 million; the Rangers are paying the other $28.4 million. Need I say more?

They’re GGGRRRREAT!

The Tigers in the World Series! Can you say absolute domination? The A’s didn’t even stand a chance. Quite honestly, this is what I thought would happen to them against the Twins. But I’m happy for the Tigers. 13 straight losing seasons. The last couple of seasons have been no picnic either. I don’t think either NL team has a chance against the Tigers. Then again I picked every team that got eliminated, so what do I know?

Swept?

The Twins got swept? Are you kidding me? What happened to the hottest team in baseball? Since when do the A’s score runs? I’m in total shock. Something isn’t right.

The MLB Postseason

Bob FranquizUncategorized

Today the MLB post-season begins. I’m still getting over the absolute collapse that was the Red Sox second half this season. Anyway, here’s how it’s lining up for the divisional series: American League Tigers vs. Yankees A’s vs. Twins National League Padres vs. Cardinals Mets vs. Dodgers So what’s your prediction? Who’s going to the League Championship Series? Here’s my prediction: Twins vs. Yankees. Twins win in 6 games Padres vs. Dodgers. Dodgers win in 5 games.

Full on Depression

I don’t know what I feel worse about, there being no power in church yesterday (which turned out surprisingly well) or the absolute pounding the Red Sox have taken over the last 3 days. I stayed up until 2AM watching the horror that was Sunday night’s game. This has just been horrible. I walked into the supermarket today to pick something up for Carey and I was wearing my Red Sox cap and a guy wearing Yankees shirt just looked at me with a face that could only be described the way we look at someone who’s been eating out … Read More

The Red Sox 10 Minutes from my House

Bob FranquizUncategorized

It was great to see my team, the Boston Red Sox playing at Dolphin stadium against the Marlins tonight. A couple from our church got Carey and I luxury box tickets! It rocked. I loved eating free ribs, chicken, and beverages and watching a ball game. It was awesome! The game wasn’t so pleasant as the Red Sox traded for a chump starting pitcher who gave up 5 runs in the first 2 innings! David Ortiz got robbed of a home run in the 9th inning, which was heartbreaking. But all in all, it great to see my team. Also, … Read More

Congratulations Heat!

Bob FranquizUncategorized

Who would have thought that the Heat would have come back from 0-2 to win 4 in a row? Miami is officially being renamed “Wade-County” for the MVP! Awesome! I gave our church a hard time on Sunday saying that Miami would lose in 7 games. I was kidding, but they’ll be the ones giving me the hard time this Sunday! For the record, the Heat is my second favorite team next to my childhood team, the Celtics! From a kid who grew up in the Larry Bird era in Boston, congratulations to the Heat!
