Book Review: Selling the Invisible

Bob FranquizBooks

I really enjoyed You, Inc., so I decided to pick up Selling the Invisible by Harry Beckwith. While I didn’t like the book as much as You, Inc., there were some great nuggets in the book that were very helpful. Here are a few of my favorite quotes: “Ignore your industries benchmarks and copy Disney’s.” (That’s funny and true) “Don’t just think better. Think different.” (What worked in the past won’t necessarily work in the future) “Everyone in your company is responsible for marketing your company.’ (Every person in our church is a representative of CF) “Go where others aren’t.” … Read More

Hanging with My Tribe

Bob FranquizChurch

My day started pretty early as I drove up to Merritt Island to be with a group of Calvary Chapel Pastors. I hadn’t been up there in a while, but made a point to be part of today’s meeting and spend some time with guys in my tribe. It was great seeing some guys I hadn’t seen in a long time. Of course, the highlight was showing off pictures of Mia 🙂

Absolute Domination!

Josh Beckett threw a 4-hitter tonight as the Red Sox beat the Angels 4-0! He just overpowered them tonight! The Angels hitters looked lost tonight. The Red Sox hitters didn’t. John Lackey wasn’t fooling anyone. Good times!

Have a Cigar?

Bob FranquizChurch

I’m not kidding, it smells like a cigar in this office! Mark has put this spray contraption that sprays a fragrance every 9 minutes and it smells exactly like a cigar. I don’t think it’s supposed to smell like one, but it does. He says it smells like something else, but it smells a bar in here. All we’re missing is peanuts on the floor 🙂

Book Review: Transforming Leadership

Bob FranquizBooks

I liked Transforming Leadership by Leighton Ford. It’s a little slow in parts, but if you’re looking for a book on leadership that focuses on the leadership style of Jesus, this is the one. He looks at Jesus’ life through the lens of how Jesus led His disciples and it’s very insightful. Here’s a few of my favorite quotes: “Vision is…the ability to see in a way that compels others to pay attention.” “The true leader is never satisfied to lead his people where they were.” ” Leaders are perpetual learners…learning is the essential fuel for the leader.” “An effective … Read More

How I Read a Book…

Bob FranquizBooks

I get asked fairly frequently about how I read as much as I do. I’ll read about 60 books this year (which isn’t going to break any records by the way). Here’s a few things that I share about what helps me read: 1. I like to read – if you hate reading, there’s no cure that I know of. I used to not like reading, but I was so hungry to learn, I got over it and dove into books. 2. Bring a book everywhere with you – People have tons of time that get wasted (waiting for someone, … Read More

We’re gonna Party like it’s 1995!

Bob FranquizUncategorized

That’s what I’m talking about! The last time we won the AL East Division title was 1995! It feels nice. There’s no stopping this team! We’re facing the Angels in the ALDS (reminds me of 2004 – can you say “sweep”?). In the immortal words of Clubber Lang, “I pity the fool!”
