1 Year of Blogging!

Bob FranquizUncategorized

I realized that I started blogging one year ago yesterday! What a ride it has been! The good comments, the weird comments, the really bizarre comments! I’m amazed that fairly well adjusted adults would care about what I had to say! The best part for me has been to get to know some other bloggers/ Pastors that I can call friends. It’s been great to get to know you guys!

The good thing about having a cold…

Bob FranquizUncategorized

Since my streak of not being sick is broken (“Illness free since 2003”), I’m learning the good things about having a cold: #1 – Sleep – I normally sleep about 6-7 hours a night. I think I took a 6 hour nap yesterday. Then I slept like a rock. It was glorious. #2 – No guilt for doing nothing – Right now, laying on the couch is my job. Plus, I don’t have the energy to get up. #3 – Reading – I’m going to try to at least read one book while I’m doing nothing (I guess if I’m … Read More

Down for the Count…

I got home from D.C. yesterday just before noon and I didn’t feel right. I studied until about 10:30 and then passed out on the couch. I woke up this morning and felt terrible. Carey gave me some weird concoction filled with vitamin C and felt good enough to teach this morning. I was delirious by the time I started teaching, so I just went for it. We’re in a series on marriage and today I talked to the guys on what it is to be a man. I felt so bad that I had no energy to sugar coat … Read More

3 Days at Disney

Bob FranquizUncategorized

I just got back from Disney last night (Just in time for a leadership meeting). It was great! Carey and I left right after church and were there until Wednesday afternoon. We went with Carey’s sister, her husband, and our niece and nephew. It was awesome! I’m a big Disney fan and they were amazing. Sarah (my niece) had a princess breakfast at Norway in EPCOT and got to meet 4 princesses. I was blown away at how much they value creating an amazing experience. She was so happy, not just to meet the princesses, but to be treated like … Read More

I’m Winning an Oscar!

Bob FranquizUncategorized

Well, not exactly. But I am getting an award. I just found out that Mark, our Worship Pastor and I are getting honored by the South Florida Legacy Music Ministry with an award. What will the award look like? I have no idea. But it’s always nice to get some props and be recognized. It’s happening on Saturday, May 13th @ 6PM. I put more info up as I get it. What do you wear to something like this?

The coolest gift ever!

Bob FranquizUncategorized

I walked into the office this morning and found a square package sitting on my desk. I opened it and it was an autographed baseball signed by #33 Jason Varitek, captain of the Boston Red Sox. My buddy Tadd was kind enough to track Jason down (who attends his church by the way) and get him to autograph a baseball for me. Anyway, Tadd you’re awesome! Thank you so much for this great gift!

Seeing Things Clearly

If you get a chance, could you pray for my wife Carey on Monday? She’s having laser eye surgery at 1PM. This is a great thing, but we’re both a little nervous. She’s nervous because of the surgery… I’m nervous because after Monday she’s going to know what I really look like! I told her the other day: “Honey, don’t be shocked when you really see me and realize that I’m not that good looking!” She’s going to know that I got the better end of this deal!

Bookworm…

Bob FranquizUncategorized

I just can’t get enough of being in a bookstore. I love it! I used to work in a Christian bookstore and I loved it. I just love being around books. Probably because it makes me feel smarter than I am. But I love finding out about a great author and reading everything he’s read. It was weird going into a bookstore for the first time and seeing my own book on the shelf. I was right next to Gayle Erwin on the shelf. Good company to be in. I like Amazon.com and use them for some stuff, but for … Read More

Awesome Valentine’s Gift!

Bob FranquizUncategorized

Carey made me an awesome Valentine’s Day gift this year. Due to my obsession with the movie “School of Rock”, she “ripped” the movie with her Powerbook, cut a few scenes, and then formatted them to play on my ipod video! So I have 4 songs from the movie to choose from no matter where I am. It’s awesome. I’ve been walking around the house this week shouting at the top of my lungs, “And the legend of the rent, was way hardcore!”
