I’ve been working on a couple of writing projects that I’m really excited about. These are more in-house books that we’re going to use with our church body to help disciple them. – Watermark: An explanation of Baptism – This is a pamphlet that I’ve written to people who want to be baptized. I want people to have an good understanding of what baptism is and I’m not planning on teaching 4 baptism messages a year. So I wrote this using the Watermark chapter from my Elements book, an introduction, and an FAQ about baptism to give people the information … Read More
Change of Plans
I was supposed to be at the Calvary Chapel Southeast Pastor’s Conference this week, but Carey’s Doctor informed us that she needs to be on bed rest for the next couple of weeks until Mia is born. This has changed my schedule considerably and it’s OK. While it’s always nice to hook up with my CC brothers, I have the privilege to serve my wife as I help out around the house. It’s also giving me some time to finish up Mia’s room (I’ll post pictures soon – It looks like something out of a catalog) So if you remember, … Read More
24
Tonight’s premiere of 24 – OMG!!!!! Jack is a beast! I was amazed when Jack went Lost Boys on that guy! Dr. Bashir as the pseudo bad guy was a good move. Wayne Palmer as president! Out of hand! The show reminded me why it’s the best show on TV!
Best Gift
People have been so kind to Carey and I giving us gifts for our daughter that’s going to be here in a month. But one of my favorites has been this. Someone gave us a CD of all Metallica songs in lullaby form. They have Coldplay, U2, Nirvana, the Cure and a bunch of others. It’s good to get rock music instilled in your kids early. Because if my daughter ends up liking Hip-Hop, I might lose my mind…
Downsizing…
We made a hard decision yesterday. We decided to cancel our Momentum conference. Why? Honestly, there wasn’t enough interest to justify a full blown 2-day event. So we’re going to host a 1/2 day round table gathering for those that are interested. It will be held on March 2nd from 9AM-12PM here in Miami Lakes. There is going to be limited seating, so if you want to attend, email me. I actually feel pretty good about it. When we planned this conference, I didn’t know my wife would be giving birth 3 weeks before the conference was set to happen. … Read More
The Ball has Dropped!
– In sports, dropping the ball is a bad thing. – At work, dropping the ball is isn’t good either. – Yet somehow, millions tune in to watch a ball drop…and that is a good thing. Maybe now that the ball has dropped, it means we won’t drop the ball and we’ll see all our dreams come true in 2007… Happy New Year!
A Thought on Competitive Eating…
While I am a fan of competitive eating, one thing I have never done is eat while watching competitive eating. Why? I don’t know. Maybe I’ll put this down as a 2007 goal…
I Love Talking Shop…
I had lunch with one of my best friends today who is pastoring a growing church in Hartford, CT (If you think church planting is difficult in your area, go to a place where the majority of people are 3 generations unchurched). I find it so refreshing to talk to someone who gets it and sees life from a similar perspective. We had a great time talking about ministry, life, books, and quoting 80’s metal lyrics 🙂 We all need people like this in our lives. If you don’t have one, go out and find one. If you don’t life … Read More

Happy Belated Festivus!
How did December 23rd pass us by without us wishing one another a happy Festivus? I suppose this would serve as part of the “Airing of the grievances”… So happy Festivus for the rest of us!
