Sunday Stuff… (Monday Edition)

Bob FranquizGeneral

– Sunday was great!  – Taught Revelation 1:9-20  – People are seriously getting into this book.  – We saw several people make decisions for Jesus this morning.  – Joel and Tanya did an amazing job leading worship. – I feel like I am totally in the zone with my messages.  Exposition is what I do.   – People are inviting friends at a crazy rate.  It's awesome!  – It's not easy to create an inviting culture.  But once you've got it, it's happens.  – I've been reading like crazy this year.  I'm learning a lot.   – Just got the … Read More

Amish Churches

Bob FranquizGeneral

I've noticed something about churches:   – There are churches that look everywhere for innovative ideas and creative ways of communicating the Gospel.   At the same time, there are churches who believe the don't need to look anywhere outside of what has already been established through tradition.  I call these "Amish Churches".  The are closed societies who create their own bubble and never allow a new idea to creep in and infuse some creativity into their preaching, systems or architecture. How do you become an Amish church? – You don't read anything that wouldn't be found in a Christian … Read More

Zero to Sixty Cover

Bob FranquizGeneral

Here's the book cover to Zero to Sixty.   I am amazed at how fast this process is going.  The release date is still Easter, but I wouldn't surprised if it's out sooner!

Fusion Seminar Just in Time for Easter!

Bob FranquizGeneral

There's going to be a record number of first time guests at your church on Easter, the question is, "Will they stay or fall through the cracks?" If they stay, it's because you were intentional about helping them take next steps in their faith.   I'm going to be leading a Fusion (Assimilation) seminar on February 25th in Jupiter, FL (which is in the northern part of West Palm Beach county).  I'm looking forward to sharing the principles of assimilation as laid out in the book Fusion and what we've learned at Calvary Fellowship on the subject.   If you're in the area, I hope to … Read More

Sunday Stuff…

Bob FranquizGeneral

– Today's was nuts!  – The place was packed!   – We kicked off our new series, "It's the end of the World as we know it!"   – 16 people made a decision to follow Jesus!  I love that. This is the reason Carey and I moved to Miami.   – I felt like I preached the best message I've taught in a year.  I'm really happy with how it turned out – I have come to the conclusion that exposition is just the best format for me as a teacher.  And when you're teaching your best, the church … Read More

Wasting Time

Bob FranquizGeneral

I was sitting in Barnes and Noble the other night and as I look at the people around me, one guy was reading a comic book and the other guy was reading a book on coloring (I'm not kidding).   I'm at my orthodontist's office yesterday and one person is reading a magazine and two others are texting their friends.  The bottom line is this: it's not that we don't have enough time to do the important things.  It's that we waste a lot of time.  It's one of the reasons I stopped Twittering.  I began to see it as a waste … Read More

Prescriptive vs. Descriptive Reading

Bob FranquizGeneral

I get asked a lot of questions about my reading habits, I'll give you one that has been extremely helpful for me: I don't read books simply to gather everything that a book has to say.  Instead, I'm trying to find the message that the book is trying to teach me.   Descriptive reading is when I read a book about leadership and the writer explains what he or she has done to make them a better leader.   Prescriptive reading is when you read the same book and ask the question, "What is this person trying to teach me … Read More

DISC Profile

Bob FranquizGeneral

A friend recommended that I take the DISC profile. So I took it today… and it totally nailed me!   According to the test, I am a high "D".  Apparently, it means I like to be charge.   It was a little harsh, but it described me perfectly. We are going to have every person we potentially hire take this test.

Sunday Stuff…

Bob FranquizGeneral

– Good Sunday.   We were down a little, but it was still a good turnout.   – We finished our Fuel Series (which I really enjoyed teaching)  – Band was great as usual.   – After not being there last weekend, it was great to be back and I was blessed to think that I get to be the Pastor of this church.  I don't deserve this kind of blessing, but I'm thankful for it.   – I talk to church leaders all the time and what's happening at Calvary Fellowship isn't happening everywhere.  I need to be reminded … Read More

2 Years Old..

Bob FranquizGeneral

I can honestly say that the last 2 years have been the happiest of my life.  After 10 years of waiting and praying, our daughter Mia was born and she has been an absolute joy.  Since coming into our lives, everything has been different.  I see life through her eyes.  I never used to look at the moon. But now, when we walk outside at night, she stops me and says, "Papi, moon."  She's changed the way I view my relationship with God.  For that, I will always be thankful.  Carey and I are happier than ever and now that … Read More
