An Amazing Opportunity!

Bob FranquizChurch

I’ve been attending the Calvary Chapel Southeast Pastor’s Conference for the last 9 years. When I was in Bible College, my dream was to someday be one of the speakers. Well…someday is happening this upcoming Wednesday morning! I got asked to be one of the keynote speakers at this annual event. There’s about 1,200 Senior Pastors and church leaders registered to attend. I’m totally excited and humbled by the opportunity. My topic you ask: “Postmodernism and the Emerging Church”. I’m just glad I wasn’t ask to teach anything hard! Just kidding. But if you remember, please pray for me.

Lessons on Sharing Vision

Bob FranquizChurch

Pastors, you know more than you anyone the importance of sharing vision. Yet as I look around church world, I don’t see a lot of Pastors sharing the vision God has given them very well.  Nehemiah succeeded because he was able to mobilize the people to be part of God’s vision.  We are having our annual "Vision Night" tomorrow and I’ve been thinking about vision a lot overthe last 2 weeks.  While I’m always trying to deposit some vision into every message, there are important moments when we get the opportunity to talk in these terms the entire evening.  In … Read More

A Great Day!

Bob FranquizChurch

My good friend Pedro Garcia, who s doing a great job Pastoring the Calvary Chapel in Kendall played hookie and visited Calvary Fellowship this weekend.  It was great to see him and his family and spend  time with them.  He offered some very kind words about his experience at our service.  You can read them here on his blog.

Controversy Strikes!

Bob FranquizChurch

This week gets the “Weirdest week ever” award! I started a series on Sunday called “Origins” talking about who we are as a church, where the church has been and where we are going. The message has stirred more talk, conversation, meetings, e-mails, and rumblings than any other message we’ve ever done in 5 years! What was the subject matter? End Times? No. Divorce? No. Sex? No. “Once saved, always saved”? No. Here’s what it was: Love. That’s it. Loving one another… We’re getting tons of feedback. Mostly positive, some concerns. Check it out if you’re interested. In fact, subscribe … Read More

Origins Week 1

Bob FranquizChurch

Wow! Today was amazing! The place was slammin’! The music was great. The video we used was insanely funny. But we talked about the church. We talked about the important of the church being original (That is, we are going to be different than any other church because of who we are, where we are, and what period in history we’re in) and then we talked about how we need to be linked to our origins. The first of which was love. Love is supposed to be our calling card as Christians. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, … Read More

New Series: Origins

Bob FranquizChurch

I’m so excited about what God has been showing me over the last few weeks about the church. Some of this stuff is going to be in the next book that I write. But we are going to spend the month of January here in Miami Lakes talking about the church. People have so many preconceived notions about church. That even includes those inside the church. But the book of Acts gives us the components as to what the church should be… a revolutionary community. So we’re going to kick it “Old School” and talk about our origins and be … Read More

Words I’m Totally Sick of – Part 1

Bob FranquizChurch

I don’t know if it’s my daily Flintstones vitamins, but I’m getting a bunch of stuff off my chest… and it feels great! So I’m going to talk about words that I’m totally sick of because they’ve become cliches in Christian circles. Here’s the first one: #1 – Relevant – Pronunciation: re-l&-v&nt/ Function: adjective – Definition: relating to or bearing upon the matter in hand. RELEVANT implies a traceable, significant, logical connection . Has there been a more overused word in church circles in the last 5 years? I talk to guys who want to plant churches every week and … Read More

Staff Christmas Party!

Bob FranquizChurch

Sunday night was our staff Christmas party.  I always look forward to this night.  Even though most of the staff hangs out together, we don’t ALL get together that often.  So Sunday night we headed out to the Cheesecake Factory in Aventura for a great time.  I work with an incredible group of people who love God and are passionate about the mission of the church.  It was great to be there with all the staff spouses as well.   This is such a simple thing, but it shows them how much they are appreciated for all the hard work they … Read More

I’ve Had It!

Bob FranquizChurch

:::::Warning: Major Rant Ahead::::::::: OK, I’ve had it!  I am SO sick of "Christians" talking crap about each other!  We wonder why people’s opinion of the church is at an all-time low.  Give me a break!  I don’t blame them.  The church is the most dysfunctional family I’ve ever seen!  One of my best friends, Bill LaMorey, is planting a church in Hartford, CT and is working his butt off trying to serve the Lord in an area that desperately needs the Gospel.  This blog has decided to "critique" (Read: talk crap) about Bill’s outreach efforts and nitpick Bill’s sermon … Read More
