For Those with too much time on their hands…

Bob FranquizUncategorized

My buddy Chris linked to something amazing. You can get a call from the “Assistant to the Regional Manager” from Dunder-Mifflin in Scranton, PA! That’s right! Dwight Schrute, from The office will call your phone and harass you at random when you’ve got nothing better to do. I think I’m going to put my friends’ phone numbers in the box and have Dwight call them. Here’s the link. (By the way, if you aren’t watching “The Office”, you’re only living 1/2 a life. This is the greatest work of comedic genius since Seinfeld first came out.)

Beyond the First Visit Review

Bob FranquizBooks

I saw that Ben was recommending Beyond the First Visit by Gary McIntosh and I decided to pick it up. I really enjoyed it. The book is basically about how to connect people to your church once they’ve visited. I found some of the ideas dated, but there was enough fresh stuff that caused to take notes and think through our processes. Some Pastors I talk to, speak as though planning is unspiritual. The Bible says, “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance is of the LORD.” (Proverbs 21:31) The issue is, God brings about His … Read More

Swept?

The Twins got swept? Are you kidding me? What happened to the hottest team in baseball? Since when do the A’s score runs? I’m in total shock. Something isn’t right.

If you’re planning on coming to our Momentum Conference (I hope many of you are), you are going to experience the best weather of your life as the rest America freezes their buns off. We’ll be hanging out in 75 degree weather and learning great insights into being a church with excellence no matter where we meet. I am so excited about this event, because I am expecting to learn a ton and hopefully have something to give as well. The other speakers are pumped about it. And registration is open. If you want to help get the word out … Read More

Sign Language

Bob FranquizChurch

Over on the Momentum Blog, I posted something about the importance of good signage and the type of signage you need, especially if you meet in a theatre. Mark followed that up with some pictures of one of the medium sized signs we produced recently. Link. Check it out! By the way, I highly recommend that you subscribe to the Momentum blog. We’re going to have tons of great resources over there that I probably won’t mention all the time here. Enjoy!

The MLB Postseason

Bob FranquizUncategorized

Today the MLB post-season begins. I’m still getting over the absolute collapse that was the Red Sox second half this season. Anyway, here’s how it’s lining up for the divisional series: American League Tigers vs. Yankees A’s vs. Twins National League Padres vs. Cardinals Mets vs. Dodgers So what’s your prediction? Who’s going to the League Championship Series? Here’s my prediction: Twins vs. Yankees. Twins win in 6 games Padres vs. Dodgers. Dodgers win in 5 games.

3 Things Miami doesn’t have…

Bob FranquizBooks

Miami doesn’t have 3 things: Pits – We’re too close to sea level Lions – Alligators, plenty. But no lions. Snow – Much too hot for that If you can’t have any of the above, order Mark’s book. I’m looking forward to getting my copy and reading it…

Great Compliment

Bob FranquizChurch

We had a journalism student from FIU visit our church last night (By the way, Sunday night is completely rockin’) and shoot some video for her project. Her cousin attends our church and she decided to do her project on Calvary Fellowship and the amount of young people we have attending. She interviewed a bunch of people from the church and shot some of the worship and message. But my favorite quote of the night was when she said, “This feels like a party!” A lot of churches I’ve been to feel like a funeral, this was a great compliment!

The Momentum Blog is up!

Bob FranquizUncategorized

Besides the conference we’re doing in March, we put up a blog that’s going to discuss how we do things in our portable settings. The link is here. We’re hoping this will be an added resource for church planters and Pastors that are trying to make lemons out of lemonade 🙂 Our whole staff will be contributing to this based on their areas of responsibility. Enjoy!
