#16 – I didn’t make the goal clear for each ministry area

When we started, I was under the impression that having a ministry for every need under the sun was the goal in and of itself. What I ended up with after 3 years was a group of exhausted people. Without a clear bull’s eye for each ministry, everyone decided what was the bull’s eye for them, even if that meant competing for space, resources, and time with other ministries. When I took a step back, I realized that I needed to tie every ministry back into the overall vision of our church and create a “win” that is measurable. The result? We’re getting there, but people aren’t as tired and our ministries are much more effective.
