On the Move

Looking at my calendar, I’m going to be all over the place over the next few weeks. I’m going to be in Orlando, Tampa, and North Carolina in the next 2 1/2 weeks. Then I’ll be in Los Angeles in May. I’m really looking forward to be there. LA is one of the few places I’ve ever been to and said, “Yeah, I could easily live here” 🙂 I’m only missing 1 Sunday due to all of this travel and that’s for vacation while I’m in LA. I’m looking forward to hitting a few churches I’ve never been to. Maybe … Read More

How do I Know Who the Crazy People are?

Bob FranquizUncategorized

Carey and Mia came to the office to have lunch with me today and we went to a favorite place of mine. What I saw was puzzling: a guy taking to himself. Not too out of the ordinary, since everyone seems to have a bluetooth headset these days. But I couldn’t tell if he was using bluetooth or if one flew over the cuckoo’s nest. But it creates a problem: how do we know who the crazy people are? The ultra-sophisticated technology geeks and those that aren’t “all there” look the same to me. Here’s my solution: Treat everyone as … Read More

Questions

Bob FranquizUncategorized

There’s a question I asked in the message yesterday that seemed to get a lot of traction in the hearts of people. I was speaking in reference to change, and I asked, “How would the person you want to become handle this?” This is a question I ask myself regularly. “How would the leader, Pastor, father, husband, friend I want to become handle this situation?” I believe if we starting acting the way we answer that question, we’d eventually become that person.

Noon

“It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.” (Luke 23:44-46)

Disaster Averted!

Thanks to those of you that let me know my blog’s RSS feed was getting freaky a few days ago. Apparently, those of you who subscribe where getting my posts, plus celebrity UK gossip. While British celebrity gossip has always been a passion of mine (insert sarcasm) this was a weird typepad error that has been fixed. But while we’re on the subject of RSS feeds, why don’t you do yourself the favor of subscribing instead of surfing on to the site? I follow about 15 blogs and because I subscribe to them through an RSS reader, it takes me … Read More

A Legacy

Bob FranquizUncategorized

I officiated a funeral last night for a woman who was with us from the very beginning. She hung around with people half her age, never complained that the music wasn’t her style, and just rejoiced that people were coming to know Jesus. About 200 people packed out this church and told story after story about how Edith had impacted their life. Edith is the only person I can say that never spoke an ill word about anyone. She loved Jesus and now she’s experiencing the reward of that obedience. I was amazed at her legacy when I scanned the … Read More

Happy Leap Year!

Bob FranquizUncategorized

Happy February 29th! I always wished I was born on February 29th! I’d only have 1 birthday ever 4 years (which would make me 8 1/2 by the way), but it would be an awesome party! Anyway, you get 1 extra day this year. So what are you going to do with it?

Valentine’s Day Thoughts…

Bob FranquizUncategorized

1. If guys would do for their wives what they do on Valentine’s Day, the divorce rate in America would plummet! 2. Buying flowers doesn’t even count today because it’s expected. 3. This is how a girl wants to be treated everyday! 4. It’s weird to book appointments for today. It’s regular day, but not exactly. Very weird. 5. Today always reminds me of Billy Ray Valentine! Why don’t they make movies like this anymore? “Looking good Bill Ray!” “Feeling good Louis!”

A First Step into a Larger World…

Mia tried ice cream for the first time on Saturday. I treat her like royalty, so of course we went to Dairy Queen 🙂 This goes without saying, but she loved it! These are the things that make me love being a dad!

11 Years

Bob FranquizUncategorized

11 years ago today, my wife and I got married. I still don’t know how I got her to say yes, but she did and I’ve been the happiest man on planet earth because of it. There’s nothing better than a great marriage! There’s nothing better than being married to your best friend! And the best part is that “the best is yet to come.”
