Good Emerging Church Perspective

One of my Bible College instructors is planting a church in Indiana and recently posted an article on the Emerging Church. I think it’s balanced and gracious. Here’s the link if you’re interested…

Was Today Anti-Rick Day?

Bob FranquizChurch

Is there a new holiday I don’t know about? I’m thinking today might have been unofficial “Anti-Rick Warren” day and no one informed the rest of us. I have heard so much smack talk about Rick Warren lately that’s out of control. Yes, he sold millions of books. Yes, he Pastors a big church. Yes, he has a passion to reach people that don’t know Jesus. Yes, he is using the money he earned from his books sales to help plant churches and relieve the pain of those suffering in Africa. I know these are all reasons to hate. 🙂 … Read More

3 Thoughts for your Thursday

Here’s a few things I’m thinking about: #1 – I’m excited about teaching at Ridge Stone Church (Home of the Legendary Gary Lamb) on July 16th. These guys are blowin’ up in Canton and I’m hoping to drink some of the cool-aid while I’m there! #2 – I’m hooked on a new show: America’s Got Talent. This show is totally lame, but it has me mesmerized. And my TiVo recommended it, so how can I say no. Also, I missed all of House last season and now I’m catching up. My Point in Teaching…

Bob FranquizTeaching

I was talking to a friend of mine last week and he was asking me about my teaching style and what I’ve been teaching lately. I told him some of what I’ve been sharing lately and he said the most interesting comment I’ve ever hear about my teaching. He said, “It sounds like you’re teaching people how to be human.” I said, “Huh. I never thought about it that way, but I think you’re right.” People reaching their full human potential as intended by God… I like the sound of that!

I was at the Red Sox/ Marlins game today (Which I enjoyed thoroughly as the Sox won 4-3) and noticed something odd. There was a bit of a ruckus between some Red Sox fans and Marlins fans. So much so, that security was called. So who showed up? A 60 year old woman and another woman that was about 5 feet tall! Now, I don’t mean to sound chauvinistic, but come on! You’ve got 6 half drunk grown men getting rowdy and “Grandma” is going to settle this? Bless her heart, but she didn’t do much to help the situation. … Read More

We have a Winner!!!!

We have a winner to the “Be the 1,000th commenter on my blog” sweepstakes!” Chris Goeppner, youth Pastor at Calvary Chapel Jupiter felt the freedom to cheer the Marlins on my site (Which is normally OK, except they’re playing the Red Sox this weekend). Chris wins a copy of my book “Elements: Starting a Revolution in your World.” Congratulations Chris, and thank you to all who have commented over the last year. Seriously, I’ve gotten to know so many great people who are like-minded for the kingdom through the blogosphere. So I look forward to who I’ll run into in … Read More
