Weighing In

Bob FranquizUncategorized

I’ve gotten a lot of questions about how I’ve been able, by God’s grace, to lose 70 pounds and get down to what I think is normal human size for a person of my height and build.

So I’m going to give you the big secret to my weight loss: Ready? Here it is… Diet AND exercise!

There was no magic shake, no anti-carb campaign; just making healthy choices with my meals and with my time. I can tell you that I have never felt better in my life.

I stopped eating fast food completely, I cut out fried foods, and said goodbye to the sweets. That’s pretty much it. I did go see a doctor who gave me a shocking diagnosis. He said, “Bob, you’re fat!” I was shocked! I was sure all along that I was simply big boned, but I was just a victim of my own bad choices. So I changed my mind (Rom. 12:1-2) about food and decided to honor God with my body (1 Cor. 6:19-20) which I hadn’t done.

I started at 270 pounds (Yes, I’m serious). Today, I weighed in a 200 pounds. I’m really happy about this.
I got up to a size 44 waist and today I’m at a 33 (I haven’t worn a 33 since high school)
I was wearing XXL shirts & 20 inch neck on button down shirts. Today, I’m wearing mediums & my neck is a 17 (that’s not small, but it’s normal for me. It’s the same size as when I was in 12th grade.)

The decision to lose weight was a spiritual one. I wanted to be able to serve God in my latter years with as much energy and intensity as I do now. But to be able to do that, I have to start taking care of myself now. So that’s my secret… (Talk to your doctor and give it a try)
