Q and A: How do I Beat the Summer Financial Slump?

Bob FranquizChurch

It's pretty well documented that most churches experience a financial dip when the summer hits. People leave town and go on vacation (and go on vacation from tithing as well). But how can we minimize the summer financial slump or even increase giving over the summer?

Here's a couple of ways:

#1 – Inspire new giving – this best way we're done this at Calvary is through the Tithe Challenge. When people hear God's Word and hear stories of God's faithfulness in the lives of others, they begin to give and experience the joy of giving.

#2 – Encourage faithfulness from the congregation – One way this can be done is through automatic giving. That way, even if a person is out of town they are still being faithful to honor the Lord with their finances.

#3 – Remind the congregation through regular communication – You have a great opportunity to remind your congregation before the summer starts and then in July if you send out a midyear tithe statement. This can remind people of where they are in their giving and encourage them to stay on track.

We have an entire resource on how to inspire new giving and follow up with givers called, "The Tithe Challenge". You can pick it up by clicking here.

Bonus: If you pick up The Tithe Challenge resource today (May 12), we'll send you a copy of "The Cash Crunch" for free (a $19.95 value)!
