Seriously, is it fair to have a Diana Ross night on American Idol and then tell the guys you didn’t like how they sang? Do the show’s producers even take into consideration the fact that most girls can’t even hit her range, such less most guys?

I’d like to them have a Metallica night to even out the playing field a bit. (Not that this changes the fact that the guys aren’t very good this year)

That’s why having the finalists pick within a genre is better than being stuck inside of one artist’s catalog of songs.
