Book Review: Smart Couples Finish Rich

Bob FranquizBooks

In preparation for the financial seminar I’m co-leading in February, I’m reading some financial books I haven’t read. I loved “The Automatic Millionaire”, so I decided to read Smart Couples Finish Rich by David Bach. What a great book! This book is a great primer on understanding a lot of the financial terms that get thrown around. It gives a great strategy for putting together a strong financial plan that sets a couple up for retirement. Anyone who doesn’t want to be dependent on Social Security during their retirement years needs to read this book and put a plan together. … Read More

– Today was great! – This was a great week. – Mark, Tanya, and I were all having voice issues during church today. – Taught on making great decisions from Mark 15. I think I could teach on this every week and it would be well received. It’s an important topic. – I’m still thinking about my New York trip. – Took a few of our staff to an assimilation seminar. Great stuff. Looking forward to the one we’re hosting in Miami in March! – I got to record a podcast for Church Leader Insights. I don’t know when it’s … Read More

It’s great to be back! I’ve been in New York all week attending a seminar and doing some teaching. I’ll pack all my learnings in the next few days. But I will say this: – I missed my girls very much! – New York is an amazing city (This is a Red Sox fan talking)! – Carmine’s had the best Italian feed I’ve ever tasted! – Mark and John were on Good Morning America! – Airplanes a great place to get major reading done. – The Journey is a great church! – The weather was amazing! – It’s good to … Read More

Just wanted to put this on radar: On January 27th we’re going to have Sy Rogers at Calvary Fellowship! Sy has a radical story of coming out of a gay lifestyle and how God has transformed his life! This is an event you want to tell everyone you know, strap them to the roof of your car if you have to, and get them to church! Sy not only tells his story, but he also shares with churches how we can minister to those living a gay lifestyle. The church’s reputation is one of gay bashing and hating. I want … Read More

Book Review: The Richest Man in Babylon

Bob FranquizBooks

I decided to read one of the classics, “The Richest Man in Babylon” by George Clason. Most financial books cite this as the classic text in financial matters. I wasn’t the easiest book to read (I hate reading newsprint), but the content was good. I’m amazed by how simple truths move me and how I need to hear them over and over again. I need to hear about saving, not having debt, investing, insurance, and preparation regularly. The world we live in has a way of causing us to forget these important disciplines for the sake of the immediate. That’s … Read More

Fusion

Bob FranquizBooks

Here’s a book to put on your radar if you’re a Pastor that cares about reaching people. It’s called Fusion and it’s written by my friend Nelson Searcy. He’s been a huge blessing in my life and his approach to assimilation (which is what Fusion is all about) has helped us in helping first time guests take next steps. This book is worth 10 times the price for all the info you’re going to get! I’d encourage you to buy this book right now and get this book memorized before Easter!

Favorite books of 2007

Bob FranquizBooks

Here’s my list of the best books I read in 2007: (They aren’t in any particular order and also, I may not have agreed with 100% of every book, but if it challenged me, that’s why it’s probably on the list). The link takes you to my review of the book… – It’s Okay to be the Boss by Bruce Tulgan – Money, Possessions, and Eternity by Randy Alcorn – The Automatic Millionaire by David Bach – Leading at a Higher Level by Ken Blanchard – The Rest of God by Mark Buchanan – The Feiner Points of Leadership by … Read More
