Bill Streger posted an article that Mark Driscoll wrote for the Criswell Theological Review about the difference between emerging churches and Emergent. It's well worth a read. Even if you don't consider yourself any of these, this is going to affect your ministry at some point. So you may as well get familiar with the terminology if you haven't already. Enjoy! Alright, after watching American Idol last night, here are my reactions: Overall, this was their worst performance collectively! It seemed like an off night for everyone. Lisa - You're going home! She has a good voice, but she need to develop it further. Simon was right. The song was too big for her. Kelly - I didn't get it. #1 - I can't stand country music. #2 - you have to pick songs that showcase your voice. #3 - I hate country music. Ace - Lame! I love Train, but that was a train wreck! Taylor - It was OK. ... Read More
Last night, Carey and I went out for dinner. Afterwards, we walked over to Barnes and Noble. I was looking at all the books on the shelf and I said to myself, "How do these books sell when all you see is the spines? What makes a book stand out?" That's when I saw it! I saw a copy of my book "elements" on the shelf. I was totally checked. I had seen my book at a Christian bookstore last month, but I had no idea Barnes and Noble was carrying my book. Anyway, you can see what it looked ... Read More
We rolled out our Easter invites this weekend. We're kicking off a series called, "Polaroid: Shake up your life!" It's a series on marriage and family. This picture isn't hi-res, but if you click on it, it should give you an idea! I'm really looking forward to it. It should be fun. It's been over 2 years since I did a series on marriage, so we are due! We're doing 2 services @ 9:30AM & 11AM. We're expecting this to be our biggest Easter yet!

Today was awesome for several reasons: #1 - the weather is amazing! It's been kind of hot the last few days, but yesterday and today were amazing. The weather was about 70 with a nice breeze. Great long sleeve shirt weather. #2 - Church rocked! - The place was packed! The vibe was great! I taught from Numbers 20 and shared a lot of my own story. It was harder than I thought it would be, but I got an incredible amount of feedback. Tons of people were crying and were really moved by it. I didn't really expect that. ... Read More
I just finished "Revolution" by George Barna. First, let me say that I appreciate George Barna and his organization for providing the church with much needed statistics that serve as the thermometer that gets stuck in the mouth of our culture. For that, we should all we thankful for the work these fine men and women do... Now, to the book review. Quite honestly, I didn't like the book. It was an easy read, which is the sign of a good writer. Yet I found myself struggling with the book's content. George's premise is that there are a growing number ... Read More
This is a really cool site that my wife found. I'm going to do something with this. I haven't figured out what, but I'm going to do something with it! Check it out!
Yesterday I walked in to the office and I noticed that the carpet was a darker blue than normal. Then I saw 2 guys carrying in these huge fans... That's when I said it: "Not again!" Yes, the water main exploded and water has been pouring in from every place you can imagine! This morning it only got worse. They brought machines in to clean the carpets and the noise is unbearable! I can't even hear myself think! What does this mean? Powerbook? - check! A couple of books? - check! Starbucks? - I'm Gone!
Gary Lamb was kind enough to post a review of my book on his blog. You can read it here...
